Q: What is the difference between you and the rest of the dance studios?
The short answer is - the level of sophistication. In our classes, the students develop skills and learn not how to be a dancer but how to be a desirable social dancer, and that's a big difference. Not only that, but to be such on every social dance floor around the world.
Q: How seriously should I take the social dance?
Seriously enough to learn it and not seriously enough to get frustrated.
Q: How important is social dance?
Well, social dance is basically about your physical and mental health and your joy and happiness. So, how important they are to you is the only correct answer.
Q: How fast should I expect to learn to dance?
It really depends on where you are starting from and your physical coordination and musicality; it may take a little while if you're starting from scratch. However, if not, you can expect to be ready in 4 weeks, and if you already dance another style and know the fundamentals, it could be as little as one week. These estimates are based on our experience over the years. The other factor is your level of dedication and the amount of time you dedicate to it.
If you need to learn quickly for a specific occasion, we recommend our private lessons as the fastest way of learning to dance.
Q: What is the shortest route of learning to dance?
The private lessons, no dought. At the end of the day, they are the fastest and the cheapest way of learning to dance.
Q: Who is the best fit in your classes?
Everyone with a positive and friendly attitude. It's the only requirement. After all, It's a social dance, isn't it?
Q: How big are the groups?
The typical group is around 10 people (five couples), so the instructors can work with everyone individually and make the lessons the most effective.
Q: Why are the groups that small - will it still be fun?
Actually, it isn't. The groups are small, so the instructors can work with everyone individually and address their specifics. It also makes the lessons more effective. The lessons are intensive, so there is just no time to get bored. :)
Q: Why are the prices higher than the rest of the studios?
Actually, they are not. Considering how small the groups are, how fast you learn, and ready for the Social dance floor, the prices, in reality, are times lower. It's typical for people having to spend years going to classes before accomplishing something; where we don have a single student that needs more than six months - it usually takes one to three mounts. So compare the money you spend for one year in another studio whit the money you spend with us for one month, and that would be a fair comparison (instead of class per class).
Q: What age groups are the classes for?
The classes are suitable for adults, but young adults are welcome as well if they have a partner and feel comfortable. A separate group can be organized for children above 7 years old by request.
Q: I’ve never danced before. Are beginners welcome, and what about the intermediate and advanced dancers?
Everyone is welcome! The classes are designed in a way so they can work for everyone. Since the groups are small, we find students advance very quickly, so the differences soon diminish.
Q: Do I need to have a partner to join the class?
You do not need a partner to join a group since partners are rotated in the class.
Q: What shoes should I wear?
Comfortable! For Latin styles like Salsa, ladies can wear heels (not too high, though), and soles should not be sticky (like rubber) Leather soles work best, but For Swing trainers are fine. Keep in mind you will be on the front part of your feet most of the time.
Q: What is the dress code?
There isn’t a dress code, but we recommend wearing something comfortable that allows you to move around easily. Open-backs for ladies are not recommended.
Q: Does it matter how often I attend the classes? What if I miss one?
Missing a class will likely extend how long it takes to learn, so it is recommended to attend regularly. However, if you miss one do not worry too much – our instructors will help you to catch up.
Q: I think I'm Intermediate or advanced level - can I come just to practice?
Certainly, yes. However, if you're coming from another dance studio, we recommend you take at least two of our beginner's classes first to gain some of the fundamental knowledge which would be helpful to have in the more advanced classes.
Q: Is the price for practice the same as the regular lesson price?
No, it's lower - usually three times cheaper than the full lesson. Please contact us for more details.
Q: I'm very short/tall - does that matter?
It doesn't really matter. Part of the colloquium is how to address situations where the partners are of different sizes.
Q: Does it matter how often I attend the classes?
Yes, it does. Missing a class extends your learning curve, so it's recommended not to. However, if it happens, do not worry too much - you will catch up eventually.
Q: Can I learn only one style?
At any one time, yes. However, once you know one style, you will be amazed how easy it is to learn another one, so you should! :)
Q: Which styles are included in the standard class?
We teach the most popular styles of social dancing, including:
Salsa - Salsa (on 1 and on 2), Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bachata, Cumbia, Merengue, Lambada;
Swing - Swing East Coast, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jive, Boogie-Woogie, Balboa, Blues.
The Argentinian Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Polka, Rumba, and Bolero are subject to a separate group called Ballroom dance which is much more formal.
